Feature & Follow Friday #4 ~ Writing Your Reviews

Welcome to Feature and Follow Friday, a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful bloggers, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of this blog hop is to gain followers, discover new blogs, and make new friends! What makes this blog hop different than others (and the reason I wanted to link up) is that each week both hosts showcase a "Featured Blogger" ~ what a great way to get to know bloggers from different genres and areas!!

This weeks featured bloggers are Book Blog Bird and Books Coffee and Life, check out their blogs, see what their about, and then give them a follow!

Question of The Week:

How do you write you’re reviews? - Suggested by Blue Books and Butterflies

This is a great question!! When I first started blogging I tried to come up with a format so that all of my reviews would have the same style and feel to them. I soon realized that this didn’t work for me, I read so many different types of books in different genres and I wanted my reviews to reflect the style of book I’ve read. So now I just write from my gut; however I would talk about the book to my book club or with a friend is how I write my review. I do always include the synopsis of each book at the beginning of my review with appropriate links to purchase and author pages and I always end my reviews with who I would recommended the book too, if anyone. The other thing I’m a big stickler about in my reviews is absolutely 100% NO spoilers, I can’t stand them and NEVER put spoilers in my reviews, not even tiny ones!!

Thanks all and Happy Friday!!!

  1. I try really hard to not include spoilers, but sometimes they sneak in. Especially if something big happens and I'm freaking out about it. Old follower!

    1. Lol I hear ya! It can be really hard to not include spoilers, when I feel that way I'll usually hold off writing my review for a day or two until all my emotions die down and that helps me :)

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I'm such a perfectionist that it takes me a while to think of what to write and then I just hope that I can get it down the way I had it in my head.

    1. Me too! I almost always spend a day or two gathering all my thoughts about a book before I can even attempt to write a proper review. Then once I write it up I typically re-write sections over and over until I feel it's just right :)

      Thanks for following!!

    1. I think most bloggers do, or at least they give you the opportunity to click on the spoiler if you want to read it. The ones that really bug me are when there is absolutely NO warning, your just reading along and all of a sudden in 2 sentences the twist or ending has been given away! I've actually un-followed a few blogs that did this to me more than once, so disappointing to be spoiled on a book you want to read!

Thanks for stopping by and following :)

  6. I've just started doing reviews and I thought about coming up with a set way to do them. However, I find it much easier to simply write from the heart!
