Feature & Follow Friday #3 ~ Organizing Your Books

Welcome to Feature and Follow Friday, a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful bloggers, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of this blog hop is to gain followers, discover new blogs, and make new friends! What makes this blog hop different than others (and the reason I wanted to link up) is that each week both hosts showcase a "Featured Blogger" ~ what a great way to get to know bloggers from different genres and areas!!

This weeks featured bloggers are Banosaur and , Alexandra Florence Books check out their blogs, see what their about, and then give them a follow!

Question of The Week:

How do you organize your books? Either at home on your bookshelves or on your reading-device, or on your bookish platform like Goodreads, Leafmarks or Booklikes. - Suggested by Unconventional Book Views

I am a HUGE e-reader! I’d say 95% of all books I read are digital and I read them on my only non-human love, my 8.9” Kindle Fire HDX :) I love my Kindle, can’t leave home without it, but the one thing that truly irks me is that there is NO  way to categorize or organize your books on it! You can sort them by author, title, most recent…… and that’s it, I really don’t understand this. Anyways, we also have a wall of bookshelves in our family room and this is where I display my favorite print copy books. Yep that’s right; even though I read all digital I then buy print copies of ALL my favorite books! It doesn’t matter if I read it as an eARC or purchased it myself on Amazon, I have a bit of a problem & this drives my hubby crazy LOL I organize my books by series first, each series has its own special display shelf & each book within the series sits on a stand with its cover facing out. Stand-alone books get grouped together by genre and each genre has 3-4 shelves dedicated to it. I organize the books on these shelves by lining them up in alphabetical order; author first, then by title. Books within each genre that have covers I absolutely loved also get placed on stands with their covers facing out. Basically, I organize my books the same way you find them at most bookstores :)

  1. Wow, that sounds interesting! :D My physical bookshelf is so stuffed but since I live in a student apartment and only have a small room, I don't have any space for more bookshelves...

I can make collections on my kindle but that's about all how you can sort them...

Followed you on bloglovin' and added you to my feedreader.

    1. Thanks for stopping by & following :) I can imagine that storing all your books in a student apartment would be rather difficult! But maybe someday soon you'll have a nice big space for some bookshelves!!

  2. hehehe, yes you do have a bit of a problem like your hubby says, but what a wonderful problem to have :) I am pretty happy with my ereaders capabilities at sorting books between date and title -- though for some reason, I sometimes get frustrated when a book I load as the most recent suddenly ends up way at the bottom of my list of books loaded (if that makes sense?)

    1. That totally makes sense!! I have a similar problem with my Kindle sometimes except it will be a really old book that I read years ago & it suddenly pops up at the top as a brand new book. It always confuses me at first Lol I think it has to do with if an ebook get updated or something. Thanks for stopping by & following :)

  3. I do the same thing. I have everything organized by genre and then alphabetically, with series in series order. I read most of my books on my Paperwhite now but I still have a ton of physical books. And I also like to buy copies of my favorite books! Then I can show them off and possibly get them signed. :)

    My FF!

  4. I love my e-reader too but there's no organization and by bookshelves are a mess. I've given up until I buy more bookshelves or giveaway some books.

  6. Wow I wanna organize like you! & I completely agree on how not being able to organize your books on the Kindle is really irking!!! I read alot on mine too and I hate having to scroll through so much looking for a certain book when, if it was organized I could know exactly where it's at!

    1. Exactly!! And come on, it's Amazon so it's not like they don't have the technology to give us some shelves or category options LOL thanks for stopping by and following :)

    1. I boycotted going digital for years when it came to my reading, thought I'd never get used to not reading an actual book! Once I got used to it though I fell in love with my Kindle and the ease of taking it everywhere with me while having every book I own stored inside :) I do miss reading print copy books though sometimes which was one of the main reasons I still continued to buy them! Thanks for stopping by and following :)
