Feature & Follow Friday #1 ~ Reading Slumps & Hangovers

Welcome to Feature and Follow Friday, a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful bloggers, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of this blog hop is to gain followers, discover new blogs, and make new friends! What makes this blog hop different than others (and the reason I wanted to link up) is that each week both hosts showcase a "Featured Blogger" ~ what a great way to get to know bloggers from different genres and areas!!

This weeks featured bloggers are Gizzimomo's Bookshelf and Paperback Opinion Book Reviews, check out their blogs, see what their about, and then give them a follow!

Question of The Week:

How Do You Cure A Book Hangover/Blogging
Slump/Reading Slump?

I’m answering these as 3 separate questions.

First, how do I cure a book hangover? Luckily this rarely happens to me; I mostly read Psychological Thrillers and am fine jumping right into the next one. But on the rare occasion that I do suffer a book hangover; you know that feeling of having your guts ripped out & you’re now sobbing on the floor because what you read was so beautiful and so devastating that now you don’t know how life will go on cause it’s over? Ya, that’s when the hubby steps in and says I require an intervention and he bans me from reading for 24 hours!! He coaxes me back to the living with a family movie night and it works like a charm :)

Second, how do I cure a reading slump? This actually happens to me frequently! When I read a book that I positively fall in love with then I find I must read any and all books that sound even remotely similar to the original book. This system can work well for a while but eventually I’ll find that I’m reading the same story over and over and honestly, it’s not very good anymore! So I’ve learned that when this happens it’s time to switch genres and that works for me!

Third, how do I cure a blogging slump? Uh-Oh, what the hell is a blogging slump? I just started my blog a few weeks ago so I can’t fathom what this hypothetical “blogging slump” is since blogging is all I want to do at the moment! Please state below the warning signs and symptoms to watch for in this debilitating, horrific sounding disorder, yikes!

Thanks all and Happy Friday!!!

  3. I'm the same way with reading. I definitely get in a rut reading the same type of books over and over again. It's good at first, since I'm in the mood for whatever the theme is, but I do get tired of them after awhile. And then I don't enjoy similar books for a time afterwards.

  4. I know what you mean - when you get all into a certain "type" of book and then suddenly they all run in together and it's like one big mess of the same book. Gah. Don't do that. My FF

  9. Nice tips! :) Well, for me blogging slump means you're too lazy to post anything to your blog or even to visit other blogs? Luckily, it hasn't happen to me yet. :)
